On Thursday, February 2, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 43 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

24 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Pededze and the Silene Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; to one citizen of Israel, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document. Two more citizens of Russia and two – of Ukraine and one – of Greece were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. Persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Ukraine, one – of Russia and 1 – of Turkish were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, two citizens of Latvia, departing for Edinburg, without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons – one citizen of Ukraine and one - of Tajikistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, three – of Kazakhstan, three - of Ukraine, two - of Latvia, two- of Russia, one – of Israel, one – of Moldova and one – of Turkish.
