On Tuesday, February 21, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 48 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

26 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Terehova Border Control Point 1 citizen of Ukraine, who presented to border guards forged Ukrainian driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal process.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 foreigners

at the Terehova and the Silene Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, one – of Belarus and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to three citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document. Five more citizens of Belarus were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Iran was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons – three citizens of Estonia, one of Latvia and one – of Russia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, three – of Russia, two – of Ukraine, one – of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Bosnia and Herzegovina, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Rumania and one – of Uzbekistan.
