On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 36 offenders at external borders and within the country.
19 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
at the Terehova Border Control Point 1 citizen of Moldova, who presented to border guards forged Romanian driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal process.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Pāternieki, the Vientuļi and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova and two – of Israel as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document. Four more citizens of Russia, one – of Moldova and one – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners
one citizen of Ukraine, one – of Moldova and one – of Belarus were detected at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Pātrenieki Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point two citizens of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons - three citizens of Lithuania and one – of Sri Lanka.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Russia, two – of Moldova, one – of Lithuania and one – of Kazakhstan.
