On Saturday, February 22, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 198 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 6 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 34 offenders at external borders and within the country. 10 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 foreigners

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova due to security reasons. The person was returned to the country of departure.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain, whose travel document was not valid to travel to Great Britain, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons - three citizens of Lithuania, one – of India and one – of Nigeria.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two - of Lithuania, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Estonia, one - of Kazakhstan, one – of Moldova and one – of Germany.
