On Friday, February 24, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 53 offenders at external borders and within the country.
24 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 12 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Pededze, the Grebņeva, the Vientuļi and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to two citizens of Uzbekistan and one – of Tajikistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. Four more citizens of Russia and one – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 9 foreigners
five citizens of Uzbekistan, two– of Moldova and two – of Tajikistan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation of one citizen of Moldova was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 12 persons - five citizens of Uzbekistan, four – of Russia, one – of Belarus, one – of Estonia and one – of Moldova.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, three – of Moldova, two – of Lithuania, two – of Ukraine, one of Latvia, one – of Russia one – of Kazakhstan.
