On Monday, February 24, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 198 persons have been stopped this year. 

 

A total 6 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

 

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 47 offenders at external borders and within the country. 21 trespassers were detected at external borders. Entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners. At the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to three citizens of Moldova, to two citizens of Uzbekistan and one – of India, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as to two citizens of Moldova, to two – of Ukraine, one – of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for six persons - two citizens of Latvia, two – of Russia, one - of Estonia and one – of Ghana.  

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Russia, three - of Belarus, two - of Kazakhstan, two – of Moldova, one – of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Bosnia and Herzegovina, one – of Croatia, one – of Serbia, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
