On Tuesday, February 25, 6 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 204 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 6 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 42 offenders at external borders and within the country. 18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document, to one citizen of Turkey and one – of India, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Moldova, two – of Russia and one – of Belarus due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Moldova was detected at the Pāternieki Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for six persons - two citizens of India, one – of Russia, one - of Belarus, one – of Estonia and one – of Lithuania.  

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Moldova, three – of Russia, two - of Belarus, two – of Serbia, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one - of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Romania and one – of Ukraine.
