On Sunday, February 5, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 61 offenders at external borders and within the country.
24 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 32 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia, three – of Ukraine, two – of Belarus, one – of Moldova and one – of Kazakhstan as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to 18 citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Three more citizens of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. Persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner
one citizen of Great Britain was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa). The person was subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, two citizens of Latvia, departing for Edinburg, without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons – two citizens of Estonia and one - of Lithuania.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, three – of Estonia, two - of Latvia, two – of Moldova, one – of Serbia and one – of Tajikistan.
