On Friday, February 7, 2 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 169 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 3 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 48 offenders at external borders and within the country. 23 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted person – a citizen of Latvia was detained

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, during immigration control a Latvian citizen entered from The Netherlands, who is wanted by the police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 13 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Moldova and one – of Uzbekistan (a seafarer), as the foreigners have a Schengen entry ban (they are not allowed to enter or stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries); as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Russia (one is a seafarer), four – of Moldova and one - of Romania due to security reasons. Regarding the seafarer, a letter of guarantee was taken from the ship’s captain that the foreigner will not go ashore while the ship is in port, the other persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

 

one citizen of Uzbekistan, one – of Cameroon, one – of Tajikistan and one -  of Georgia were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons - two citizens of Lithuania and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 22 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Russia, three – of Moldova, two – of Latvia, two – of Azerbaijan, two – of Serbia, one - of Belarus, one – of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of France, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Romania.
