On Wednesday, February 8, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 25 offenders at external borders and within the country.
11 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 wanted person was detained
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia from Amsterdam, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners
at the Terehova and the Silene Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; as well as to one – citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. One more citizen of Ukraine and one – of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. Persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner
one citizen of Great Britain was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa). The person was subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for a citizen of Russia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, two – of Lithuania, one - of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Ukraine and one – of Serbia.
