On Sunday, February 9, 5 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 174 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 3 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 30 offenders at external borders and within the country. 7 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 foreigner
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Great Britain, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document. The person was returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners
one citizen of Azerbaijan and one – of Ukraine were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons - three citizens of Estonia and one – of Moldova.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Moldova, three – of Belarus, three – of Lithuania, one – of Russia, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Georgia, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Romania.
