On Friday, November 15, at the Belarusian Border Control Point "Grigarovshchina" the first meeting of the State Border Guard, the Customs Service of the State Revenue Service, the State Border Committee and the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Belarus took place, inviting representatives from the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Latvia and the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Belarus, during which the participants discussed issues related to the preparation for the World Hockey Championship in 2021.
The basis for the meeting is the four-party action plan of the competent authorities of the Republic of Latvia and the Republic of Belarus responsible for border checks at border control points concluded on June 21, 2019.
It involves a number of measures, such as the timely preparation of the infrastructure of border control points in order to ensure the smooth and rapid crossing of the state border by the participants and fans of the World Hockey Championship, the establishment of cooperation with all types of carriers, which will enable the competent authorities to provide an efficient organisation of the service and to act in accordance with the identified risks in a timely manner, the establishment of a common information exchange channel between the competent authorities of the Republic of Latvia and the Republic of Belarus, the development of joint risk analysis based on the best experience of the Member States and Frontex, as well as the development of joint measures to respond to different types of emergency situations.
In general, several meetings of the responsible authorities of the Republic of Latvia and the Republic of Belarus are planned in 2020 and 2021, and considerable work is planned in each country in order better to prepare for the World Hockey Championship in 2021 in the field of crossing of the state border.
