From 14 to 16 September, Mr. Vygintas Kaziukonis, Frontex Agency Liaison Officer, visited the Latvian-Russian external border.
During the visit, the Frontex Agency Liaison Officer visited units of the Ludza, Aviation and Viļaka Boards of the State Border Guard, where he got acquainted with their service organisation, specifics of their activities, geographical location, border characteristics and risk analysis.
The Frontex Agency Liaison Officer was accompanied by Colonel Andrejs Rogozins, Chief of the European Union Affairs Board of the State Border Guard.
The visit took place in accordance with the previously agreed arrangements.
Based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed on 27 March 2019 in Bucharest (Romania) between the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia and the Frontex Agency regarding the hosting of a Frontex Liaison Officer in the Republic of Latvia, Mr. Vygintas Kaziukonis, the Frontex Liaison Officer to the Baltic States, started his work in May 2019.
