On 27th November 2024 a regular rotation of experts was carried out within the framework of the 12th operational period of Joint operations coordinated by Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency. This phase is marked by the deployment of several Frontex Standing Corps officers in Latvia. In total, 29 Frontex Standing Corps officers are now located in the border control and border surveillance units of the State Border Guard, providing significant support in strengthening border control measures in Latvia.
At the same time, the State Border Guard continues its active participation in Frontex-coordinated operations, deploying 44 State Border Guard officers. This number includes nine officers additionally deployed as of 27th November 2024 to Greece, Romania, Italy and Estonia. These experts serve as individual experts, such as Dog handlers with service dogs, Border surveillance officers, Information officers, First-line officers and Frontex tactical support officers. They also operate as crew members for technical equipment, including Coastal Patrol Boat and Mobile Surveillance System.
This collaboration highlights the State Border Guard's contribution to strengthening the security of the European Union's borders and its role in the international border control system, fostering a unified and efficient approach to border management.
