On Sunday, January 1, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 16 offenders at external borders and within the country.

9 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Terehova Border Control Point 1 citizen of Ukraine, who presented to border guards forged Ukrainian vehicle registration certificate, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged documents were seized within the framework of the criminal process.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 foreigner

at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia due to security reasons. Person was returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Kazakhstan was detected at the Pāternieki Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected to one citizen of Estonia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 6 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Belarus, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Moldova.
