On Tuesday, January 10, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 34 offenders at external borders and within the country.

15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Pātaernieki Border Control Point 1 citizen of Russia, who presented forged Russian ID card, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal process.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Grebņeva and the Silene Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, and to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document. One more citizen of Russia and one – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. Persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Canada was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified for a visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation of the Canadian citizen was not initiated.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia, departing for Edinburg without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 7 persons – four citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Latvia, one – of Estonia and one citizen of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Lithuania, three – of Ukraine, one – of Latvia, one - of Russia, one – of Estonia and one – of Moldova.
