On Friday, January 10, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 0 persons have been stopped this year. 

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 41 offenders at external borders and within the country. 17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Terehova Border Control Point one citizen of Kyrgyzstan leaving Latvia with heavy goods vehicle and trailer, who presented to border guards a forged Lithuanian temporary vehicle registration certificate, was detected. The person was held administratively liable. The forged document was seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners

at the Terehova Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document, and to one – citizen of Russia, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. While at the Pāternieki Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner has a Schengen entry ban (he is not allowed to enter or stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries). The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

five citizens of Uzbekistan and one -  of Azerbaijan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Azerbaijan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, two citizens of Latvia departing for Cyprus, who were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as one citizen of Latvia (female) departing for United Kingdom, whose travel document was not valid for travel, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons -  one citizen of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of India, one – of China and one - of Russia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Lithuania, four – of Latvia, four - of Moldova, one – of Estonia, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Norway, one – of Romania, one – of Slovenia and one – of Turkey.
