On Saturday, January 11, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 0 persons have been stopped this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 29 offenders at external borders and within the country. 14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 non-citizen of Latvia with forged documents was detected
at the Port of Ventspils, one non-citizen of Latvia leaving the country for Sweden by ferry, who presented to border guards a forged Polish driving licence, was detected. The person was held administratively liable. The forged document was seized.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners
at the Terehova Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document, and to one – citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has a Schengen entry ban (he is not allowed to enter or stay in the territory of the Schengen area countries). At the Port of Ventspils entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of India, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. While at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine and one - of Russia due to security reasons. Regarding the citizens of India, a letter of guarantee was taken from the ship’s captain that the foreigners will not go ashore while the ship is in port, the other persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners
one citizen of Azerbaijan and one - of Russia were detected at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons - one citizen of Estonia and one – of India.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Moldova, two – of Latvia, two – of Lithuania, one – of Russia, one – of Belarus, one – of Brazil, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Uzbekistan.
