On Sunday, January 12, 15 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 15 persons have been stopped this year. 

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 18 offenders at external borders and within the country. 8 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 foreigners

at the Grebņeva Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay and two citizens of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizen of Moldova, one – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Russia were detected at the Pāternieki Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 10 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Russia, three – of Belarus, two - of Moldova and one – of Kyrgyzstan.
