On Saturday, January 13, no one person was stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total 5 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 26 offenders at external borders and within the country.
14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents; as well as to three citizens of Ukraine and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay and to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was banned from entry and stay the territory of the Schengen States. One more citizen of Ukraine and one - of Germany were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, four – of Moldova, two – of Lithuania, one – of Latvia and one – of Ukraine.
