On Tuesday, January 14, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 15 persons have been stopped this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 28 offenders at external borders and within the country. 8 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva Border Control Points and the Port of Ventspils entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kyrgyzstan, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; as well as to three citizens of Moldova, one – of Russia and one – of Ukraine (a seafarer) due to security reasons. Regarding the seafarer, a letter of guarantee was taken from the ship’s captain that the foreigner will not go ashore while the ship is in port, the other persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner
one citizen of Moldova was detected at the Pāternieki Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The person was subjected to administrative liability.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons - two citizens of Estonia, one – of Russia and one – of Ukraine.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, three – of Russia, two - of Moldova, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Lithuania, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kyrgyzstan and one – of Ukraine.
