On Wednesday, January 15, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 15 persons have been stopped this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 37 offenders at external borders and within the country. 19 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Kyrgyzstan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; while at the Pāternieki Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Belarus, two - of Moldova and one – of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 7 foreigners
two citizens of Moldova, three – of Ukraine, one – of Belarus and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation committed by one citizen of Ukraine was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain, whose travel document was not valid for travel to Great Britain, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons - one citizen of Estonia and one – of Russia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, three – of Lithuania, three - of Moldova, three – of Kazakhstan, three – of Uzbekistan and one - of Russia.
