On Thursday, January 18, officials of the State Border Guard did not detect any attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by persons, while a total 5 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 31 offenders at external borders and within the country.
15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Great Britain, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel documents; as well as to three citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Three more citizens of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner
one citizen of Uzbekistan was detected at the Terehova Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, two citizens of Latvia departing for Manchester without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – two citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia and one - of Latvia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, three – of Russia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Rumania one – of Uzbekistan.
