On Monday, January 2, 2022, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 32 offenders at external borders and within the country.

18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Terehova Border Control Point 1 citizen of Ukraine, who presented to border guards forged Ukrainian driver's license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged documents were seized within the framework of the criminal process.

  • entry to the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova and one – of Uzbekistan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; and to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was banned from entry into and stay in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries.  Three more citizens of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. Persons were returned to the country of departure.

  •  conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Uzbekistan and one – of Kirgizstan were detected at the Silene and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Dubai, who did not have a notarized authorization from the other parent for the child's departure from the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected to one citizen of Latvia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, two – of Ukraine, one – of Russia, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Poland, one – of Turkish and one – of Germany.
