On Tuesday, January 2, no one person was stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus.
On January 2, officials of the State Border Guard detected 27 offenders at external borders and within the country.
13 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners
at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. One more citizen of Russia was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners
two citizens of Georgia were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Bristol without valid for travelling to Great Britain document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons – one citizen of Lithuania, one – of Latvia, one – of Russia and one – of Ukraine.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 10 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Estonia, one – Lithuania, one - of Kirgizstan, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Portugal.
