On Saturday, January 21, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 50 offenders at external borders and within the country.
33 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected
at the Terehova Border Control Point 1 citizen of Ukraine, who presented forged Ukrainian driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged document was seized within the framework of the criminal process.
- 2 wanted persons were detained
At the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points two citizens of Latvia, wanted by the Police, were detected. The persons were detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners
at the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Silene Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to five citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document. One more citizen of Russia was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. Persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners
one citizen of Ukraine, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Kirgizstan and two – of Russia were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 4 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, four citizens of Latvia, departing for London, without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 9 persons – five citizens of Lithuania, three – of Estonia and one – of Ukraine.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 8 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – tree citizens of Kazakhstan, two – of Estonia, one – of Belarus, one – of Lithuania and one – of Germany.
