On Monday, January 22, officials of the State Border Guard did not detect any attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by persons, while a total 5 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 55 offenders at external borders and within the country.
36 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to seven citizens of Vietnam and two – of Georgia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners
four citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Belarus and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia departing for Istanbul, who was not in possession of the notarised consent of at least one parent for the child to leave the country independently, and
one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain document, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons - one – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Uzbekistan and one - of Lithuania.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Moldova and one – of Ukraine.
