On Thursday, January 23, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 59 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 3 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 33 offenders at external borders and within the country. 11 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 wanted person – a citizen of Latvia was detained
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, during check on passengers one Latvian citizen entering from France, who is wanted by the police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 6 foreigners
at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to three citizens of Belarus and two – of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 11 persons - eight citizens of Moldova, two – of Russia and one – of Latvia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 11 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Georgia, two – of Italy, two – of Ukraine, one – of Latvia, one - of Moldova, one– of Romania, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Uzbekistan.
