On Friday, January 26, officials of the State Border Guard did not detect any attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by persons, while a total 5 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.

 

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 43 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

 

14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

 

  • 1 wanted Latvian citizen was detained

 

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia from Bucharest, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The man, born in 1986, was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

 

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 foreigners

 

at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova due to security reasons. At the Pāternieki Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document, while at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen Member States during the previous 180 days.

 

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

 

one citizen of Uzbekistan was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

 

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

 

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, two citizens of Latvia leaving Latvia without valid travel documents, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

 

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 13 persons – seven citizens of Lithuania, five – of Estonia and one - of Belarus.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 16 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, three – of Latvia, three – of Lithuania, three – of Moldova, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Serbia and one – of Uzbekistan.
