On Monday, January 27, 7 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 108 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 3 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 59 offenders at external borders and within the country. 24 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners
at the Grebņeba, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Turkey and one – of Russia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Belarus, two – of Russia and one - of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners
three citizens of Uzbekistan, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeba and the Pāternieki Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia
at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia departing for Great Britain, whose travel document was not valid for travel to Great Britain, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 8 persons - four citizens of Lithuania, one – of Belarus, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Guinea and one – of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 27 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, four – of Uzbekistan, four – of Serbia, three – of Russia, three – of Kazakhstan, two – of Romania, two – of Ukraine, one – of Latvia, one – of France, one - of Moldova and one - of Tajikistan.
