On Tuesday, January 30, officials of the State Border Guard did not detect any attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by persons, while a total 5 persons have been stopped from illegally crossing the state border during this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 35 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

13 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted Latvian citizen was detained

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia from London, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The man was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners

at the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visas or residence permits, while three citizens of Ukraine and one – of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Tajikistan was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 14 persons – five citizens of India, five – of Uzbekistan, three – of Ukraine and one of Russia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 8 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Latvia, two - of Belarus, one – of France, one - of Kazakhstan, one - of Moldova and one – of Netherlands.
