On Wednesday, January 4, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 27 offenders at external borders and within the country.

14 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova and one – Belarus, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. Two more citizens of Russia and one – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. Persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the Silene Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia leaving Latvia, who did not have valid travel documents (document invalid due to change of surname), was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons – two citizens of Russia and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, one – of Moldova and one – of Uzbekistan.
