On Thursday, January 5, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 41 offenders at external borders and within the country.

27 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted person was detained

At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia wanted by the Police, entering the Republic of Latvia from London, was detected. The man was detained and handed over to the officials of the State Police

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 14 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Terehova, the Grebņeva, the Silene and „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, one – of Belarus, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Russia,

and one – of India, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Moldova and two citizens of Georgia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner is banned from entry into and stay in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries; as well as two citizens of Russian and one – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. Persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Russia and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation of the Uzbekistan citizen was not initiated, other person was

subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia, departing for London and one citizen of Latvia departing for Edinburg, both without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 1 citizen of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Latvia, three – of Belarus, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Serbia, one – of Ukraine and one – of Germany.
