On Tuesday, January 7, 0 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 0 persons have been stopped this year. 

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 43 offenders at external borders and within the country. 21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 wanted person – a citizen of Latvia was detained

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, during check on passengers one Latvian citizen entering from Germany, who is wanted by the police, was detected. The person was detained and handed over to officials of the State Police.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners

at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizens of Belarus, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Moldova and one – of Pakistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner has already stayed for 90 days in the territory of the Schengen area countries in the preceding 180 days; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Moldova and one - of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of Cameroon was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia departing for United Arab Emirates, who did not have the notarized consent of the other parent to leave the country, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 1 citizen of Uzbekistan. 

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Latvia, four - of Belarus, three – of Moldova, two – of Armenia, two – of Kazakhstan, one – of Russia, one – of Georgia, one – of Great Britain, one – of Ukraine, one – of Uzbekistan and one – of Germany.
