On Sunday, January 8, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 27 offenders at external borders and within the country.

9 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 foreigner

at the Vientuļi Border Control Point, one citizen of Ukraine was banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. Person was returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

two citizens of Ukraine, one – of Belarus and one – of Georgia were detected at the Grebņeva, the Silene and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persona - three citizens of Estonia, two – of Lithuania and one – of Germany.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 12 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – four citizens of Belarus, two – of Germany, one - of Latvia, one – of Russia, one – of Georgia, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Portuguese and one – of Ukraine.
