On Monday, January 9, 2023, officials of the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia detected 36 offenders at external borders and within the country.

22 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 9 foreigners

at the Silene and the Grebņeva Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Ukraine and one – of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document.  As well as three citizens of Russian and three – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. Persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

three citizens of Uzbekistan, two – of Ukraine and one – of Tajikistan were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation of one Uzbekistan citizen was not initiated, other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 5 persons – two citizens of Uzbekistan, one - of Lithuania, one – of Morocco and one – of Ukraine

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 9 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – two citizens of Belarus, two - of Latvia, two – of Lithuania, one – of Estonia, one – of Kirgizstan and one – of Ukraine.
