On Tuesday, July 11, 9 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4633 persons have been stopped this year.

In total 218 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On July 11, officials of the State Border Guard detected 48 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

22 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point 1 citizen of Ukraine, who presented to border guards forged Ukrainian vehicle driving license, was detected. Criminal proceedings were initiated for using forged documents. The forged documents were seized within the framework of the criminal process.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Pāternieki, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; as well as to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was banned from entry into the territory of the Schengen States. One more citizen of Russia and one – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 2 foreigners

one citizen of Kirgizstan and one – of Ukraine were detected at the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain document, as well as one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Istanbul, who did not have at least one parent's notarized consent for the child's independent departure from the country, were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons - two citizens of Lithuania, two – of China, one – of Estonia and one – of Georgia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Belarus, three – of Latvia, two – of Kazakhstan, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of France, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Mongolia, one – of Norway, one – of Serbia and one – of Hungary.
