On Wednesday, July 12, 30 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4663 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, four persons were not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; 222 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On July 12, officials of the State Border Guard detected 65 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

36 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Pāternieki, the Grebņeva, the Silene, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; to two citizens of Tajikistan, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Three more citizens of Russia and three - of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 9 foreigners

three citizens of Uzbekistan, three – of Ukraine, one – of India, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Azerbaijan were detected at the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in a visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by two citizens of Ukraine was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain document, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 12 persons – four citizens of Lithuania, four citizens of Latvia, two - of Estonia, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 17 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Latvia, three – of Russia, two - of Belarus, two – of Lithuania, two – of Moldova, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Estonia, one – of Georgia and one – of Serbia.
