On Saturday, July 13, 14 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3038 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 34 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the Terehova Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Moldova, one – of Georgia and one – of Armenia, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. While at the Grebņevava Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner

one citizen of USA, was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime). The person was held administratively liable.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 citizens of Latvia

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point, one minor citizen of Latvia departing for Belarus, who did not have the notarized consent of at least one parent to leave the country independently, was detected. While at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia (female) departing for Great Britain, whose identity document is not valid for travel to Great Britain, was detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 10 citizens of Belarus, two – of Latvia, two – of Lithuania, one – of Brazil, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Romania and one – of Germany.
