On Monday, July 15, 50 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3092 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 53 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

18 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 1 foreigner with forged documents was detected

at the Terehova Border Control Point, one citizen of Uzbekistan entering Latvia with a heavy goods vehicle and trailer, who presented to border guards forged vehicle roadworthiness certificates, was detected. The person was subjected to administrative liability.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners

at the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; while at the Grebņeva Border Control Point, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; to one citizen of Moldova as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia and one – of Ukraine due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

two citizens of Russia, one – of Belarus, one – of Tajikistan and one - of Kyrgyzstan were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki, the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 11 citizens of Belarus, two – of Lithuania, two – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Latvia, one – of Estonia, one – of Moldova and one – of Uzbekistan.
