On Sunday, July 16, 10 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4775 persons have been stopped this year.

In total 227 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On July 16, officials of the State Border Guard detected 44 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 12 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine and one – of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to three citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document. Four more citizens of Russia and two – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

two citizens of Ukraine, one – of Georgia and one – of Cameroon were detected at the Grebņeva, the Silene and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa free-regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by a citizen of Ukraine and citizen of Cameroon was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one minor citizen of Latvia, departing for Istanbul, who did not have a notarized consent of one parent, a Latvian citizen, for the child's departure from the country. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 citizens of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – seven citizens of Russia, four – of Moldova, three - of Belarus, two – of Lithuania, one - of Latvia, one – of Italy and one – of Kirgizstan.
