On Tuesday, July 16, 21 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 3113 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 46 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

19 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 7 foreigners

at the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia and one – of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Moldova and one – of Georgia, as the foreigners, could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay; as well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine and one - of Moldova due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

two citizens of Azerbaijan, one – of Kazakhstan and one - of Uzbekistan were detected at the Grebņeva and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 3 persons -  one citizen of of Estonia, one – of Georgia and one – of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – eight citizens of Belarus, three – of Latvia, two – of Lithuania, two – of Ukraine, one – of Azerbaijan, one – of Kyrgyzstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Finland, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Uzbekistan, one – of Germany, one – of Czech Republic and one – of China.
