On Monday, July 17, 7 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 4783 persons have been stopped this year.
In total 227 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
On July 17, officials of the State Border Guard detected 26 offenders at external borders and within the country.
15 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 15 foreigners
at the Vientuļi, the Grebņeva, the Terehova and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Ukraine and two – of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Ukraine and one – of America, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; as well as to two citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose and conditions of their entry and stay. Four more citizens of Russia and one – of Ukraine were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 1 foreigner
one citizen of Uzbekistan was detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The person was subjected to administrative liability.
- exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 3 citizens of Latvia
at the Silene Border Control Point two minor citizens of Latvia, leaving the country (traveling with their mother), who did not have a notarized authorization of the other parent for the child's departure from the country, as well as at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for London, who was not in possession of valid travel document (the document is invalid due to a change of surname), were detected. The persons were banned from leaving the country.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 1 citizen of Estonia.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 14 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – three citizens of Belarus, three – of Moldova, two - of Latvia, two - of Russia, one – of Estonia, one – of Romania, one – of Serbia and one – of Uzbekistan.
