On Tuesday, July 2, 51 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2668 persons have been stopped this year. 

A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

Officials of the State Border Guard detected 43 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

17 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • 2 foreigners with forged documents were detected

at the Pāternieki Border Control Point and within the country, during immigration control it was detected that a citizen of Uzbekistan entering Latvia presented to border guards a forged International Vehicle Insurance Policy for vehicle and trailer; while a citizen of Moldova presented to officials of Immigration Service a forged driving licences. Criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of forged documents; one person was subjected to administrative liability. In both cases the forged documents were seized.

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 5 foreigners

at the „Riga” Airport, the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay; to one citizen of Belarus, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit. As well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Ukraine and one – of Russia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners

one citizen of Russia and one – of Uzbekistan (not in possession of valid visa or residence permit), one citizen of Ukraine (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa-free regime), as well as two citizens of Azerbaijan (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa) were detected at the „Riga” Airport and the Terehova Border Control Points. The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the country was refused to one person

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia, departing for London without valid for travelling to Great Britain documents, was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons -  two citizens of Russia, three – of Finland and one – of Russia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 20 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 10 citizens of Belarus, three – of Latvia, two – of Kazakhstan, one – of Russia, one – of Poland, one – of Uzbekistan, one – of Serbia and one – of Germany.
