On Saturday, the 22nd of July, the State Border Guard’s officials prevented 14 people from illegally crossing Latvian – Belarusian state border, in total 4930 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border during this year.

In total 236 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

53 offenders were detected at external borders and within the country

28 trespassers were detected at external borders including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 16 foreigners

At the Vientuļu, Grebņeva and Terehova Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Russia, as the foreigner were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, two citizens of Moldova, one –of Kirgizstan and one –of Ukraine, as the foreigners could not justify the purpose of entry and stay, as well as to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was banned to travel and stay in the territory of Schengen area countries. 5 more citizens of Ukraine and 3 citizens of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

At the Silene and the ‘‘Riga’’ Airport Border Control Points one citizen of Belarus, one –of Bosnia and Hercegovina and one –of the United Kingdom, were detected for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • Exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 2 persons

At Silene Border Control Point one non-citizen/alien of Latvia, leaving the country, was detected with not valid travel document (the document was expired), meanwhile at the ‘‘Riga’’ Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia was detected, whose document was not valid for entry to the UK.

The persons were refused to exit from the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 1 citizen of Russia.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 24 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 11 citizens of Belarus, 4 –of Moldova, 3 –of Russia, 1 –of Bosnia and Hercegovina, 1-of Georgia, -1 of Kazakhstan, 1 –of Poland, 1 –of Uzbekistan and 1 –of Germany.
