On Sunday, the 23rd of July, the State Border Guard’s officials prevented 20 people from illegally crossing Latvian – Belarusian state border, in total 4950 people have been prevented from illegally crossing the state border during this year.

11 people were not prevented from crossing the border for humanitarian reasons during last day, therefore in total 247 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

51 offenders were detected at external borders and within the country

33 trespassers were detected at external borders including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 10 foreigners

At the Vientuļi, Grebņeva and Terehova and Silene Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russian and one –of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, one citizen of Ukraine, as the foreigner did not have valid document, one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose of entry and stay. Three more citizens of Ukraine, three -of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 6 foreigners

At the Terehova, Pāternieki and the ‘‘Riga’’ Airport Border Control Points two citizens of Belarus, two–of Ukraine, one –of Azerbaijan and one –of Uzbekistan, were detected for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • Exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

At the ‘‘Riga’’ Airport Border Control Point, a minor Latvian citizen were detected leaving to Baku without having a notarized consent of at least one parent for the child’s independent departure from the country. The person was refused to exit from the country.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – 7 citizens of Belarus, 4 –of Russia, 3-of Moldova, 1- of Kazakhstan, 1-of Kirgizstan, -1 of Germany.
