On Friday, July 28, 26 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5111 persons have been stopped this year.

Due to humanitarian reasons, one person was not banned from crossing the state border during the past 24 hours; in total 258 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On July 28, officials of the State Border Guard detected 56 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

32 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 12 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Grebņeva, the Terehova, the Pāternieki and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to one citizen of Russia, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Uzbekistan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. Eight more citizens of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 10 foreigners

four citizens of Uzbekistan, three – of Belarus, one -  of Ukraine, one – of Kirgizstan, and one – of Russia were detected at the Terehova, the Pāternieki, the Vientuļi, the Silene and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). The persons were subjected to administrative liability.

  • exit from the Republic of Latvia was refused to 1 citizen of Latvia

at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point one citizen of Latvia, departing for Istanbul, who was not in possession of valid travel document (document invalid due to change of surname), was detected. The person was banned from leaving the country.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 6 persons – too citizens of Lithuania, one – of Latvia, one - of Estonia, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Ukraine.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 18 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, three - of Latvia, three – of Uzbekistan, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Bulgaria, one – of Israel, one – of Kazakhstan and one – of Ukraine.
