On Saturday, July 29, 38 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5149 persons have been stopped this year.

In total 258 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On July 29, officials of the State Border Guard detected 55 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

34 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 15 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Moldova and one - of Russia, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to two citizens of Ukraine and one – of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. Five more citizens of Russia and two – of Moldova were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 3 foreigners

one citizens of Belarus, one -  of Ukraine and one – of Russia were detected at the Pāternieki, the Silene and the „Riga” Airport Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa or visa-free regime, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the citizen of Belarus was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for one citizen of Lithuania.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 19 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, three – of Russia, three – of Moldova, three – of Uzbekistan, two – of Kazakhstan, one - of Latvia, one – of Cameroon and one – of Slovakia.
