On Sunday, July 30, 28 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 5177 persons have been stopped this year.

In total 258 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.

On July 30, officials of the State Border Guard detected 45 offenders at external borders and within the country. 

21 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:

  • entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 11 foreigners

at the Vientuļi, the Grebņeva and the Terehova Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to three citizens of Ukraine, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid visa or residence permit and to one citizen of Moldova, as the foreigner was not in possession of valid travel document. Five more citizens of Ukraine and two - of Russia were banned from entry into the Republic of Latvia due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the country of departure.

  • conditions of residence were violated by 4 foreigners

two citizens of Azerbaijan, one – of Tajikistan and one – of Uzbekistan were detected at the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa, were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit). Record-keeping regarding the administrative violation, committed by the two citizens of Azerbaijan was not initiated, the other persons were subjected to administrative liability.

While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 2 persons – one citizen of Lithuania and one – of Israel.

Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 21 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – six citizens of Belarus, four – of Russia, three - of Latvia, two – of Uzbekistan, one - of Estonia, one – of Lithuania, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Kirgizstan, one – of Romania and one – of Ukraine.
