On Thursday, July 4, 11 persons were stopped from illegally crossing the border between Latvia and Belarus, while a total – 2741 persons have been stopped this year.
A total 12 persons have been admitted for humanitarian reasons this year.
Officials of the State Border Guard detected 44 offenders at external borders and within the country.
26 trespassers were detected at external borders, including:
- 1 wanted person – citizen of Latvia was detained
At the „Riga” Airport Border Control Point, one citizen of Latvia entered Latvia from Great Britain, who is wanted by the Police, was detected. The person was handed over to officials of the State Police.
- entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to 14 foreigners
at the „Riga” Airport, the Terehova, the Grebņeva and the Pāternieki Border Control Points, entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to two citizens of Moldova, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid travel document; to four citizens of Russia and one - of Kazakhstan, as the foreigners were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit; to one citizen of Kazakhstan, as the foreigner could not justify the purpose and conditions of his entry and stay. As well as entry into the Republic of Latvia was refused to four citizens of Moldova, one - of Ukraine and one – of Switzerland due to security reasons. The persons were returned to the countries of departure.
- conditions of residence were violated by 5 foreigners
one citizen of Russia, two – of Uzbekistan, one – of Nigeria and one – of Azerbaijan were detected at the „Riga” Airport and the Terehova Border Control Points for violating the conditions of residence in the territory of the Schengen Area Countries (were not in possession of valid visa or residence permit, exceeded the duration of stay specified in the visa). In one case, no administrative proceedings were initiated, in the other cases persons were held administratively liable.
While carrying out immigration control measures within the country, violations of entry or residence conditions were detected for 4 persons - one citizen of Russia, one – of Brazil, one – of Ukraine and one – of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of vehicle and vessel operations, 13 persons were subjected to administrative liability or were refused the right to enter the Republic of Latvia by officials of the State Border Guard of Latvia – five citizens of Belarus, one – of Russia, one – of Lithuania, one – of France, one – of Kazakhstan, one – of Moldova, one – of Tajikistan, one – of Turkey and one – of Germany.
